A letter from our Executive Director and Founder
Hi Friend,
You know I’ve been pouring every last bit of my energy into Unchartered, the nonprofit that received its 501c3 status from the IRS this spring. Unchartered Tutoring, the for-profit organization I founded in 2017 has served its purpose and now exists only to hold the intellectual property of the 160+ science through art lesson plans I developed. Everything else has been donated to the nonprofit.
Since just March we have increased our operations by 20% by applying for and receiving the grants we now qualify for as a nonprofit!
This is a huge success, particularly when I am hearing from other nonprofits they are down a similar number due to federal funding cuts and corporations reducing their charitable giving anticipating challenging financial times in the near future.
Our growth reflects the quality of our programming and the deep need we have for scientific education.
Grants bring programming, but what keeps the lights on? What pays for bins when they crack? How do we have enough sharpies on hand?
Individual donations from my friends, in all truthfulness. I know that not everyone can give, but if you do have the funds to spare, please donate to Unchartered this Giving Tuesday.
My board has been extremely generous and they have promised as a group to match any gifts I can get, up to $3,000.
So that is my goal for our first Giving Tuesday as a nonprofit- $3,000.
Have you seen the wildly funny social media video of me in a whale shark costume I made?
First Video: https://www.instagram.com/uncharteredtutoring/reel/DRcfQt8DGvP/
Second Video: https://www.instagram.com/p/DRwkacelMIl/
Its funny. You should check it out, but as of 12/1 at noon, I’ve only raised $375. So I am personally asking you if you can help me out with a donation.

If now isn’t the time for your finances, it would be a huge help if you would share the video and tag your friends. It costs nothing and really helps the Meta Universe share our story.

“I’ve been so impressed with the quality of classes coming out of Unchartered Tutoring. The combination of art and science together are not ‘dumbed down’ for students yet they are explained in a way that even the youngest of students can understand. Her classes are fun and engaging and designed in a way to allow each student to follow their own lead. I look forward to future classes!” –Melanie Rast Currier
“Thanks so much for taking our idea for a Back to School art project and bringing it to life for the Polaris Educational Foundation. We cannot be more delighted to see such fantastic options that integrate STEM, art and even drama in one program with our after school program after a great year and so much positive feedback last year!” –Jayme Putnam
Our Core…
We at Unchartered Tutoring trust in science, data, and striving to treat the earth and its beings with a shared respect and appreciation. We follow experts in their field to continue to learn and grow, understanding that new and up-to-date information gets shared everyday.
We also believe in the power of art. The world of the arts allows people to express themselves, build community, educate one another, and be a driving force in change. We share and provide creative opportunities to the people we work with. We empower our communities creativity and share that creativity with those who need it..
Unchartered’s mission is to provide equal opportunity to our New England community, with our homebase in the heart of Manchester, New Hampshire. Our teachers and other essential staff members are not only paid a sustainable wage, but we also hire with greater diversity than other companies in our state. Especially as a woman owned, small business, we strive to uplift our team members so they are supported every step of the way in their life journey.
Our curriculum aligns with the progressive educational standards of social-emotional learning (SEL) and creates a welcoming space that prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). We work alongside programs such as 21st Century, Housing and Urban Development, Manchester City Schools, Parks and Recreation Departments, Saint Anselm, University of Vermont, Kimball Jenkins, MyTurn, Waypoint, the Nature Conservancy, various engineers and researchers and the Dinah Whipple STEAM Academy at UNH, reaching and providing science and art programming to our community; regardless of race, socioeconomic status, deeper exploration in the arts and sciences.
We here at Unchartered Tutoring thrive when our students thrive, celebrate our students’ growth, but most importantly we stay curious and hope to ignite the same curiosity in our community. We look forward to working with you!
