Description

Beautiful Motion Part 2

This is an in-person class for Auburn Village School Middle School students.

Didn’t take Part 1? No worries — jump right in!

Spinning, splattering, swirling: this class is all about the physics hiding inside motion. Students explore vortices, rotors, and stators, then get hands-on with paint, splatting and blopping their way to a real understanding of force and flow.

We’ll investigate questions like:

  • What exactly is a vortex?
  • Why would we ever want something to spin?
  • What’s the difference between a rotor and a stator?
  • Why does some paint splat while other paint just blops?
  • Is a curve stronger than a straight line?

Expect a little mess, a lot of motion, and art that moves.

8 Wednesdays: November 18 • December 2, 9, 16 • January 6, 13, 20, 27

2:30-3:30. Students come directly after school to Mrs. Roggenbuck’s science room where the fun is had!

$22/class for 8 weeks = $176. Sign up by November 4! Save $40 off the regular price of $27/class ($216 total).
