Description

Mythical Creatures

This is an in-person class for Auburn Village School Elementary students.

The things we didn’t understand became our myths.

Long before science had answers, people had stories, and this winter we’re digging into where those stories came from. Students investigate the real-world clues behind mermaids, dragons, and other legendary creatures, then put their own detective skills to the test.

We’ll investigate questions like:

  • Did ancient people know about dinosaurs?
  • What did sailors actually see that made them think of mermaids?
  • Can you fake evidence of a creature?
  • Can math prove something exists?

By the end, students won’t just know the myths, they’ll know how myths are made.

6 Wednesdays: February 3, 10, 17 • March 3, 10, 17

3:35-4:35. Students come directly after school to Mrs. Roggenbuck’s science room where the fun is had!

$22/class for 6 weeks = $132. Sign up by January 20! Save $30 off the regular price of $27/class ($162 total).
